Dear Friends,
This is the same Christmas wish I shared last year and probably the year before that and probably will again NEXT year! Pastor Sheila
I first read this prayer in 1986. Almost every year since then I have shared it --- from a pulpit, in a church newsletter, in one of my “musings” or in a Christmas letter. It’s almost Christmas and I share it again.
Loving Father, help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and the wisdom of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clean hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and the Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake. Amen
Robert Lewis Stevenson ( Nov. 13, 1850 – Dec. 3, 1894)
My Christmas wishes for us all are that we can hear the angels sing, that we rejoice in the birth of the one who came to bring peace and that we live our lives to bring peace on earth.
