Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

All of us have had recent days and months filled with information overload. At times we long for a simpler or less complicated time—whether those times actually existed or not. There is a well know prayer attributed to St. Francis of Assisi from the 13th century, but it was likely written around 1900. In some ways that perhaps was a more simple time, but it was also a time when people needed to make choices based not only on themselves, but on the world around them.
The same continues to be true for us. I invite you to place this prayer on your fridge or some place where you will see it daily. Then throughout the month of February we can all be praying the same prayer. We are the church. We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ who challenged the conventional religious of his day, while offering peace and calling people to move in a new direction—toward a world and kingdom-life imagined by a loving and gracious God. Such is our calling in this time and place.
In peace and hope,
Pastor Lou
