The United Methodist Women began a new year of activity with their meeting on Monday, September 18.  Eleven women were present.  Summer happenings were shared, discussion was held on prior UMW missions, and ideas and suggestions were made for the year ahead.  Our District has had a name change.  We are now called Northeast District instead of Eastern Sunrise District.
The following disbursements were made and a pledge of $475 was made to the District Pledge to Missions for 2018.: 1)  $300 to sponsor two students in Haiti,  2) $200 - Stair lift,  3)  $25 Gift to Missions and $25 Gift in Memory of Bernice Stevens. Requirements are filled for a 5-Star Unit.
The Dakotas Conference UMW Annual Celebration will be October 6 and 7 at First United Methodist Church on Friday Registration is $18 and is due by September 29.  See Sharon for registration materials. UMW has been asked to help with the worship service one Sunday in October.  The annual Special Mission Recognition will be presented at this time. This year’s Soup, Sandwich, & Pie committee members are: Kathy Baer, Gayle Bortnem, Sharon Kerby, Jackie Ritter, and  Sandy Stahl.
The October UMW meeting will be held at the church at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 16.  Darlene Tompkins will serve as hostess.  All women of the church are welcome.
Special Mission Recognition
Congratulations to De Basham for being selected to receive the
2016 Special Mission Recognition from the United Methodist Women.
A monetary gift was given by our unit for missions work
through Women’s Division, General Board of Global Ministries, in De’s honor.
De was the recipient of a lapel pin during worship on Sunday, November 13.
De's quiet presence is felt in many areas of our church. Not only is she active in UMW, she helps with the church rummage sale, Coats for Kids, and Christmas Shoeboxes. She is an avid "recycler" and recycles the pop cans and cardboard for the church.
She works "behind the scenes" at the annual Soup, Sandwich, & Pie supper every year.
Thank you, De, for your dedication to all areas of mission in our church.
For those of you who are saving soup labels, the UPC symbol on the label is the ONLY part of the label you need to save.
If the label does not contain the UPC symbol, it can NOT be used.
If you wish to turn in the ENTIRE label, you may do so.
Thank you for support of this UMW mission project!

North Highland United Methodist Women will provide cake, coffee, and juice.
Per family’s request, a meal (such as a hot dish, sandwiches, salads) will be served
by the United Methodist Women at the family’s expense.
